DEAL OR DUD: GALACTIC CAP CONDOM CLAIMS TO BE EFFECTIVE BY COVERING JUST THE… TIP

There is no secret that condomless sex isn’t just a thing of the past but for many today. When it comes to sexual behavior, many health organizations and companies are looking for ways ‘to lower risk’ without taking away from the pleasure.

The inventor behind the Galactic Cap has released information about his venture in getting the “penis helmet” condom tested and approved, which he has been working on for over two years. Charles Powell explained that his friend’s death from HIV inspired him to invent the condom; after mentioning the condom is for pregnancy prevention.

According to the video, the Galactic Cap is a two-piece product
that uses a U-shaped base comprised of a polyurethane adhesive film and a cap that sticks to that film. The film can be applied days before sex and still allows you to urinate and shower. Once you’re ready to engage in intercourse, Powell exclaims all you have to do is place the cap on the tip of the head.

“It leaves the coronal ridge and shaft exposed for more powerful
orgasm,” he told LA Weekly.

Currently, he is seeking FDA approval first. He wants to ensure the
product actually works first before being released. The FDA has approved the polyeurethane adhesive as being safe-for-skin; however, it hasn’t done any testing on the actual Galactic CapWhile picking up more viral traction, Powell said he plans to start his Indiegogo campaign on June 1.

“I don’t want to position this product as an adult toy,” said
Powell. “It’s serious.”
