GAY MEN CONTINUE TO SPEND MORE MONEY PARTYING THAN GIVING TO LGBT ORGANIZATIONS...BUT WHY?

Our only saving grace is that the 3.1 percent of LGBT Americans that do give are handing out more per donation.

The annual National LGBT Movement Report by Movement Advancement Project examines financial health of 36 organizations – including GLAAD, ACLU, GLSEN, The Trevor Project. etc. – and represent 75% of budgets from all LGBT social justice organizations. Their 2016 release approximates $188.7 million in contributions over the previous calendar year.

Other key findings include:

— The total number of people who gave $35 or more to a participating organization represents approximately 3.1% of the total number of LGBT adults in the U.S.

–Fourteen participating organizations experienced revenue declines, with the average of these organizations experiencing a 20% revenue decline.

— Participating organizations reported a total of 286,987 donors who donated at least $35 in 2015. Of these, 270,419 donated between $35 and $999, 16,171 donated between $1,000 and $24,999, and 397 donated $25,000 or more.

— Daily cash expenditures increased 4% from 2014 to 2015 to a cumulative average of $446,400 per day for the 36 participating organizations who reported this data. This is a five-year high for these organizations.

GAY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE STUDY SHOWS BLACK COUPLES CONTINUE TO BE MOST ABUSIVE

It’s time to get serious guys! We make up 77% of homicides?

The annual ‘Report on Intimate Partner Violence in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and HIV-Affected Communities in the U.S.’ examines the experiences of 1,976 survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) who reported to 17 National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs member organizations from 14 states across the country.

Victims under age 24 are most likely to be experience sexual violence and 64% of all incidents reported were between the ages of 19 and 39 years old.

Other key Findings include:

– People of color made up 77% of the reports of LGBTQ and HIV-affected IPV homicides, and 54% of the total number of survivors who reported to NCAVP members in 2015.

– People of color made up 10 (77%) of the 13 reports of LGBTQ and HIV-affected IPV homicides.

– Nearly one in three LGBTQ IPV survivors who interacted w/ police were arrested. Police accountability is an LGBTQ & IPV issue.

– This year, 44% of LGBTQ survivors seeking shelter were denied it. 71% said it was for reasons related to gender identity.

– Transgender women were 3x’s more likely to report experiencing sexual violence & financial abuse w/in intimate partner violence.

-Sometimes IPV isn’t physical. LGBTQ survivors reported financial control, verbal harassment & isolation as tactics of abuse.

– LGBTQ survivors with disabilities were two times more likely to be isolated by their abusive partner and four
times more likely to experience financial violence.

“Gay men grow up isolated and drugs encourage communication and community,” says one man.

Another reveals, “In that moment you’re important to the person you’re fucking. You’re important to the persons house you’re at.”

Enrique has a masters degree and was in administration at his job before his CHEMSEX addiction led him to be homeless and in prostitution.
