The drag icon will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was announced on Thursday (22 June).

‘Sweet Cheeses! My heart is beating so fast right now!’ RuPaul tweeted after learning the news.

Another openly gay honoree will be Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy.

RUPAUL REVEALS HIS SECRET MARRIAGE TO PARTNER OF 23 YEARS

Drag icon RuPaul has revealed he is married to his partner of more than two decades – after a secret wedding in January.

Last week the first pictures emerged of the ‘Supermodel’ singer and RuPaul’s Drag Race host with his long-term partner, Georges LeBar.

Mr LeBar, a Wyoming rancher, had managed to stay out of the public eye for 23 years before the pair were snapped by paparazzi together.

Most of the press coverage identified Mr LeBar as RuPaul’s “boyfriend”, but in an appearance on Hollywood Today this afternoon, RuPaul dropped a bombshell by revealing they had gotten married in secret earlier this year.

When host and drag race judge Ross Matthews asked if they had any wedding plans, RuPaul volunteered: “You know what? I’ve never said this on television before, but we are married. I’ve never said it before!”

He explained: “We got married, actually, on our 23rd anniversary. I met him on the dancefloor at Limelight in 1994 on his birthday, so we got married on his birthday, the anniversary of when we met, this year in January.

“We wanted to do it… we were looking into it for tax breaks and financial things.”

Of his husband, RuPaul explained: “He’s a great guy, he doesn’t care about showbiz at all. He couldn’t care less. When [the paparazzi] caught us, we were in New York

“Most of the time he’s on the ranch in Wyoming. He has a 6,000 acre ranch, but when we have a chance to do anything, we want to go somewhere fabulous like Maui or New York because… god bless you Wyoming, but it’s very boring and the most isolated place on Earth.

“When I go there, I dress up in Western wear but nobody cares! I dress up in the most gorgeous Western outfits.”

Drag Race returns later this month – but not where you might expect it.

RuPAUL JUST MADE HISTORY WITH HIS FIRST EMMY WIN

Watch out Hollywood ― RuPaul just permanently cemented his legacy with a groundbreaking Emmy win for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.

The win is historic for a number of reasons ― the least of which being that “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a reality competition for drag queens. “Drag Race” airs on Logo TV ― an LGBT television network not included in the traditional cable package ― and to have a queer television show and network take home an Emmy win like this is a major victory for queer visibility on a mainstream level.

“I think about all the kids who watch this show all over the world who finally have an emotional navigation system,” RuPauls told Entertainment Tonight in the above clip. “This show and the 100s of girls who have come through our show have told their stories so graciously and have really helped young people around the world navigate their lives.”

We’re so proud of you, RuPaul ― and we can’t wait to see what else your magic brings to Hollywood!

RUPAUL SCHOOLS ABC NEWS: 'DRAG AIN'T FOR SISSIES'

Drag mother and superstar RuPaul put in an appearance on ABC News to teach anchor Dan Harris all about drag culture.

‘”Drag Race” is popular because at its core it is the story of the tenacity of the human spirit.

‘We get to see these kids who have been pushed aside by society, who’ve made a way for themselves to be seen and to be great. And watching them thrive throughout these challenges is captivating, especially knowing their stories.

‘And I know their stories because it’s my story. It really is the story of really everyone who thinks outside the box,’ he said.
RuPaul’s Drag Race is about to finish its Season 8, showcasing the series’s increasing popularity.

Despite his appearance on ABC News, RuPaul says: ‘I think that I haven’t been accepted in mainstream media outlets like ‘The Tonight Show’ or ‘Ellen’ or the late-night shows because the only way they could actually have a conversation with me is to make fun of me, or if they could somehow make a joke about what I’m doing.’

In trying to explain the art of drag, he tells Harris: ‘You know, show business is not for sissies. Drag ain’t for sissies. You’ve got to toughen up.

‘I’m not on this show to … to make it easy, you know? I wanna prepare them.’

Harris also asks RuPaul about drag parlance, and RuPaul tells him that ever since the ‘girlfriend!’ drag and gay culture has defined what’s cool and not cool.
