Built around a looped sample from "Chic Cheer," performend by American disco group Chic and penned by band members Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers,[1] the song initially impacted on US radios on September 15, 1998 as the album's lead single. A dance-influenced R&B cut with heavy hip hop and disco elements, lyrically, Evans as the female protagonist sings that she feels happy to have found an unexpected, yet inexperienced love for a man. The song was well received by music critics, many of which complimented its soulfuluptemponature and called it a standout track from the Keep the Faith. Commercially, "Love Like This" became one of Evans's biggest successes: It charted within the top thirty in New Zealand and the United Kingdom and peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking her highest-charting solo single to date. "Never Make a Promise" is a number-one R&B song by group Dru Hill, released in 1997. It is the thirdsingle from their eponymous debut album. With a lead by Larry "Jazz" Anthony, the single spent four weeks at number one on the US R&B chart and peaked at number seven on the US pop chart. The music video features an appearance by Michelle Thomas, who plays Jazz's girlfriend. She tells Jazz that she is pregnant and he gets excited, but she also has a drunk father who rapes her but is too scared to tell anyone.
Already a success at U.S. radio, the release of the single prompted a Billboard Hot 100 debut at number two. "No One Else" is a song by Total, from their 1996 debut album. (although their first single, "Can't You See"released from the "New Jersey Drive Soundtrack", also later appeared on the album too) The track was a collaboration between the group's record label owner Sean "Puffy" Combs, now infamous member of theTrackmasters Jean-Claude "Poke" Olivier and Terri & Monica vocalist/writer Terri Robinson. It featured a rap verse from Da Brat, a sample from the track "South Bronx" by KRS-One/Boogie Down Productions and was a moderate hit, peaking at number twenty-two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and faring much better at number four on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
The song was released with both the original and "Puff Daddy (& Rodney Jerkins) Remix" as prominent versions. Certain editions of the single only featured the remix and it even had its own music video. The track was based around rap verses from Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim, a new one from original featured artistDa Brat and a re-written chorus of "I don't need, no one but you" by Total. The video version also had Puff Daddy recite lyrics from Sister Sledge's "We Are Family" (in reference to the Bad Boy Family) during the intro.
The mellow "R&B Remix" by another Bad Boy associate, producer Chucky Thompson was also included on certain editions of the single. There were slight lyrical differences on this mix including no rap, a spoken intro by Keisha, repositioning of the bridge and Keisha & Pam this time providing background vocals to their respective B-Sections.
